Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant or Surge Tech/ Assistant to join our Palm Harbor office team. As a Medical Assistant or Surge Tech/ Assistant in our practice, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our Dermatologists in delivering exceptional services. The ideal candidate should possess strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a genuine desire to grow in dermatology.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Medical Assistants assist in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.

Essential Functions

• Performs all of the processes to prepare tissue samples (Mohs and frozen sections) for diagnostic evaluation ensuring that all regulations are met and that all productivity and quality standards are met or surpassed.
• Monitors all quality control and quality assurance documentation and reports any variances up to the Histology Manager.
• Monitors collection and pick-up of hazardous waste and forwards all documentation to the Histology Manager.
• Maintains all equipment (cryostats, refrigerators, hoods) according to established protocols.
• Patient charting in an EMR system.
• Returning patient calls.
• Scribing visits for providers, dictating notes with providers.
• Logging and maintenance of paths and patient path call backs.
• Entering patient demographics and scheduling patients into practice management system.
• Managing patient charts for prescriptions, diagnosis, medical records, patient correspondence.
• Assist physician with all dermatological procedures.
• Instrument auto-clave duties. Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Pursuit or completion of MA Certification preferred. Experience:
    • Previous experience in the Dermatology field preferred
    • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) or a willingness to learn
    • Experience with patient charting (i.e., scribing patient history, doctor's diagnosis description and treatment plans,
      including prescriptions and patient instructions into patient chart, in detail)
    • 2 plus years' experience working in a medical office
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong attention to detail and well organized
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks
    • Knowledgeable of OSHA and HIPAA compliance
    • Knowledge of medical/dermatology terminology and abbreviations preferred. Skills:
      • Stong interpersonal and communication skills
      • Ability to stay organized and work in a fast paced environment.
      • Willingness to learn and grow within the organization. Physical Requirements:
        
        Must be able to spend a great deal of the day walking, standing, moving and manipulating equipment, as well as lifting and moving objects, equipment and supplies. It is reasonable to anticipate lifting 20-25 pounds in any given day.
